LG Action Sports - What does it all mean?

In the past fifteen years, action sports have been steadily taking over the world. In fact, chew on this statistic... since 1990, participation in traditional sports like baseball, football and basketball has dropped by 38% while participation in action sports during that same period has risen by more than 700%. The individuality and authenticity of these gravity-defying activities has caused a revolution, and the popularity that has spread throughout the U.S. has now reached all corners of the earth.

The LG Action Sports World Tour was created to tie this global phenonmenon together into one global circuit that spreads the gospel of action sports. Designed to showcase these incredible sports to new audiences, to build heroes, and to help launch new careers for tomorrow's brightest stars, the LG Action Sports World Tour is the only global multi-sport series bringing A-list talent to a cohesive set of contests on multiple continents.

The strategy first began with the launch of the LG Action Sports Championships in 2003 - an event that would allow the athletes year-end bragging rights and a prize purse big enough to challenge other established events to step-up. In 2004, the LG Action Sports program brought a top-tier demo to Las Vegas during the CES trade show, stepped-up the stakes again at the LG Action Sports Championships in Los Angeles by continuing to put the athletes first and then took the show on the road for three weeks in China and Korea where top inline skaters, skateboarders, and BMX and freestyle motocross riders wowed the crowds and showcased their skills to brand new (and enormous) television audiences.

In 2005 the LG Action Sports program continued to expand its scope. This season, events in Moscow, Munich, Paris, Beijing, Barcelona, Rimini and Los Angeles comprised a World Tour with expanded worldwide television and more opportunities for pros and amateurs alike to earn spots at the LG Action Sports Championships held in October at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England. October also featured the third annual LG World Championships of Freestyle Motocross in Los Angeles. In the coming years, the LG Action Sports World Tour will add events in Latin America, Africa, Australia, Asia and the Middle East. LG is also working with some of the top professional athletes in these sports in creating the LG Team of sponsored athletes.

The LG Action Sports program is typical of LG and ASA Events: Work patiently and strategically and strive to be the industry leader by putting out the best products with a long-term vision. You won't want to miss even a second of these amazing events. Keep your eyes out for the 2006 LG Action Sports World Tour. It just might be coming to your town next!
