Beijing, China - This weekend Beijing's Capital Stadium was the site for the 2005 LG Chinese Championships. The event took place in the huge arena and the Chinese fans were treated to some of the most amazing action sports competitions and demos ever seen in Asia! It was a weekend these fans would never forget.

The Street Course competitions were amazing and it was so clear that the level of talent has stepped up a ton in the short 9 months since last year's Championships. The inliners and skateboarders continued their progression and stomped some amazing lines all weekend long. Notably, the BMX segment seemed to surge uncontrollably with riders going huge during the competitions and the Flatland competitors pulling out tricks that were thought to be impossible by most International Pro riders. On the street course, riders were pulling huge technical tricks en route to the podium.

The professional vert demos were uncontrollable as the pro athletes were determined to give the Chinese fans a taste of what the best in action sports has to offer. Although there were 4 shows each day, every rider treated each one as if it were the LG Action Sports Championships! Each athlete performed all of their top signature tricks and amazed even the seasoned action sports fan. Unfortunately riding at that level comes at a price and Eito Yasutoko and Eduardo Terreros went down with injuries but it was a demonstration of how much the LG Team wanted to show the Chinese fans the best!

The FMX Demos were nothing short of amazing as Jeremy Carter , Chuck Carothers , and Graham Gustin gave the fans a taste of the future in Action Sports. They were so popular that an all out riot was on the verge at the last autograph signing. Fortunately no one was hurt and the fans got a chance to get up close to their new found heroes.

Probably the most notable element of the weekend was the feeling of open arms that all of the athletes felt from the Chinese culture. The local fans embraced their national competitors and welcomed their international entertainers. New found amateur hometown heroes were born, and international legends were loved. Those of us who travled to visit China are very grateful for the chance to experience Chinese culture and for being a part of the 2005 LG Action Sports World Tour Chinese Championships.
